Text alerts
Mayday Control is an online airline-management game. Players who play online games with friends can choose to get a text message when something needs them: it is their turn, another player joined their game, or their game started. Text alerts are optional, free to turn on, and off by default.
Who gets texts
Only a player who signs in to their own Mayday Control account, enters their own US mobile number, ticks the consent box and types the confirmation code we text to that number. Players under 18 cannot sign up. We never text numbers collected any other way, and we do not send marketing or promotional texts.
What the sign-up looks like
This is the form on the account page (account.html, after signing in):
Text alerts (optional)
The box starts unticked. After the player taps the button we text a 6-digit code to the number; typing it back on the page switches alerts on. The player can then choose which of the three alerts they want.
Example messages
How often
At most 8 alert texts a day, only when the matching game event happens, and only if the player is not already in the game. No texts are sent between 9 pm and 8 am where the player is.
